Description
Before I painted "Boticelli's Bastard", in the style of renaissance artist Sandro Botticelli, I did several copies of these type artists works, in college, as we were encouraged to do them...Painted in 1980, this was an assignment for an advertising class at Art Center College of Design. The theme was a fictitious convention called "Typexpo 1981". We were to come up with creative ideas for a 30" x 40" size poster.
I chose to copy a studio painting of renaissance artist Jan Vermeer, and substituting the female model, with a projector with letters. And I had to do it in a week-with other classes and homework going on. It was almost too much to take on that week, but I managed it, and got an A for the semester that first year of art college.
