Description
This was the cover for the Jan. 1994 issue of Popular Mechanics (also a 2 page spread inside).
This was the dawn of the World Wide Web, and at the time, I knew little about it, not being "wired" myself. But, the idea of a fiber optic "freeway" was not out of my realm of visualization, as I had experience with cities, and the lighting effects seen here.
The art was a big smash at PM. The president and publisher Robert Dillingham (I beleive), bought the original art, and was in his office on 57th st. I also got some large poster prints from PM later. This also led to several PM covers during the 90's, including "Humanoids Among Us"
Acrylic & Gouache on masonite, size 18" x 26"
